Sound Bath meditation is perfectly safe for healthy people of all ages.  The growing body of research shows sound meditation may be suitable for many people with certain medical conditions as an aid to improving their general wellbeing.

A medical condition is any health condition (including pregnancy) which requires treatment by consultation with a medical Doctor.   When it comes to contraindications and warnings for sound bath for specific medical conditions, only a Doctor is legally qualified to give this kind of medical advice to the public.

What is Sound Bath Meditation?

Sound bath is a meditation where sound therapy instruments are played in a meditative style live in the room by an expert Facilitator.  The goal of sound bath meditation is to induce deep rest & relaxation, to encourage the self-healing which usually occurs naturally during good quality sleep.

The deep rest and relaxation provided by an expert sound bath meditation has proven to be beneficial to assist with recovery and relief of symptoms of a large range of health problems, illness and dis-ease.

Complementary Therapies in Medicine

Providers of Complementary Therapies (including sound bath meditation) are strictly forbidden by medical Law from providing a diagnosis and/or medical advice to the public.  This includes sound bath facilitators giving advice to the public regarding suitability (or not) of sound bath meditation for specific medical conditions labelled as contra-indications, warnings or health advice.

Contraindications, warnings or health advice given by a sound bath facilitator for specific medical conditions is against medical law, and without medically verifiable evidence to support the claims.  Much of the contra-indcations, warnings or health advice illegally provided by sound bath facilitators online is often based on the facilitators own fear of the unknown.

If you correctly understand the frequency of intention, you will understand how and why fear has no place in the mind of a sound bath facilitator.  When a person is in a place of fear, they have no rational common sense.

Common Sense Health Advice for Sound Bath

Does an orchestra give health warnings to the public when advertising a concert?
– Of course they don’t.

Do the musicians in a traditional irish music session give health warnings to the public when advertising their sessions?
– Of course they don’t.

Sound bath meditation is an ideal form of meditation for inducing deep rest & relaxation for stress reduction, beneficial for healthy people of all ages.  Sound meditation is suitable for almost everyone – good common sense is always essential.

For example:

      • Sensory Overload
Some individuals who are overly sensitive may find the experience of any type of meditation overwhelming.
      • Pre-existing Medical Conditions
Those with certain medical conditions, including epilepsy should consult with their Doctor or specialist for advice before attending any type of meditation class.
      • Psychological Disorders
Any type of meditation may trigger an unwanted psychological or emotional response in some people who have certain psychological disorders.  Including those who are experiencing unresolved trauma or grief.

Conclusion

The practice of facilitating sound baths is not universally regulated, which means the expertise, experience and level of professional training can vary greatly between practitioners.    This translates to an absence of knowledge of medical law and the online propagation of medically unverified health warnings by many inadequately informed sound bath facilitators and training providers.

People with a medical condition who are unsure if sound bath or any other type of meditation will be suitable for them should always ask their Doctor.

A sound bath facilitator is not qualified to provide medical advice for anyone with a specific medical condition, only a Doctor can legally provide that kind of medical advice.

If we call sound bath “sound healing”, that’s where the problem lies. Those two little words is what opens up the insurance can of worms. If we advertise sound bath as a type of meditation, because that’s what it really is, and promise nothing else but deep rest and relaxation to encourage the self-healing which naturally occurs during good quality sleep – our insurance liability is vastly reduced.

All of this and more, including legal responsibilities and obligations to the public is included in our range of expert iSR© Certified Sound Bath Facilitator courses.
