Location & Facilities

We are located at our own tranquil Yoga of Sound Nature Retreat & Holistic Academy, Ballyhooly South, 29kms north of Cork City.  Surrounded by nature at the foot of the picturesque Nagle Mountain range and across the road from the River Blackwater and the glorious Ballyhooly Castle.  Just 11 minutes West of Fermoy, and 22 minutes East of Mallow.

We have self-catering accommodation available in the 5 bedroom guest extension (subject to availability).  There is no charge for accommodation, so please book early to avoid disappointment.  In the colder months we ask for €1 hour electricity contribution but only if you use the room heater.  Plenty of private parking space at the rear of the property.  Two of our ensuite rooms have castle views.  Campervans are most welcome.

Local Area Sites of Interest

We have an abundance of nature walks at our doorstep within walking distance, including:

• Castleblagh Nature Reserve is just 100 metres away comprising of two forests, Priests Wood and Johnson’s Wood.
• A walking trail 50 metres away, through an ancient forest along the river which leads all the way into Fermoy
• An ancient blessed Holy Well in very good condition, just 15 minutes walk. 
  You are recommend to boil well water before drinking to remove any risk of e-coli from neighbouring cow fields.

We also have an abundance of historical sites of interest within a 10 minute drive including:

• Labacallee Wedge Tomb – Ireland’s largest just 7 minutes away
• Glenville Mass Rock & Famine Walk just 10 minutes away
• Bridgetown Priory Ruin – 8 minutes away
• Megalithic Cairn Ruin & Pond on top of our Mountain a half day walk to the top.

Closest Amenities

Ballyhooly North less than 1km away, has a fuel station with a small amount of grocery items such as bread, milk, sandwiches and takeaway food and snacks.  There are also two traditional Irish pubs, The Roundy and Grindels.

We are conveniently located just 10 minutes west of Fermoy, and 20 minutes east of Mallow where you will also find a selection of Hotels, BnBs, Restaurants and supermarkets.

Fermoy just 10 minutes away has adequate shopping with Aldi, Centra, Lidl, Supavalu and Tesco along with a 24 hour self-serve fuel station and a selection of takeaway and eat-in restaurants including Chinese, Indian, Kebab and Chippers.

Public Transport

Closest public transport is Mallow Train Station with connecting bus to Ballyhooly North at certain times of the day and we can pick you up from the fuel station.  Please beware that not every train has a connecting bus to Ballyhooly, so please do check the bus timetable to avoid un-necessary delays when you arrive.

If you travel the day before your class, we can pick you up from Mallow Train Station for the fuel only cost of €20.
